Edna Smith

Edna Lee Smith, 100, Lawson, Missouri, died December 5, 2014. Edna was born January 29, 1913, the daughter of Ben and Rosa Prichard. She graduated from Lawson High School. She married Carl Jackson Smith, June 1, 1931. Besides living in the Lawson area she also lived in Excelsior Springs when her husband Carl owned Smitty’s 66 gas station. During her life, Edna was a dedicated wife and mother. She was very skilled at hand-sewing, especially embroidery. Many of her loved ones have her embroidered table clothes, tea towel, Christmas tree skirts, and quilts. Edna was a member of the Lawson United Methodist Church, being the oldest member at age 100. Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Jackson Smith “Smitty”; son Donald C. Smith, 3 brothers, Claude, Earnest “Pricht” and Bob; 4 sisters, Lena, Irma, Hazel, and Margaret, and her mother and father. She is survived by her children, Kathryn (Joe) Smith; Keith (Debbie)Smith and her grandchildren, Steve (Connie) Smith; Susan Kay (Mitch) Poor; Randy (Beth) Smith; Elizabeth (David) Francken; and Aaron Kelly (Valerie) Smith. 3 foster grandchildren, Toni Marin, Teresa Marin, and Tina Marin. 10 Great grandchildren; Jason Smith, Troy Smith, Mindy Black, Dylan Poor, Alanna Smith, Rylee Smith, Michael Francken, Kaitlyn Francken, Nicole Francken, and Katy Smith. 4 Great great grandchildren; Sara Smith, Haley Smith, Jackson Smith, Sloane Black, and many nieces, nephews and cousins who will miss her as well as a multitude of wonderful friends. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 10, 10:00 A.M. and viewing at 9:30 A.M., both services at the Lawson United Methodist Church. Burial afterward at Lawson Cemetery. Visitation will be at Kathryn and Joe Smith’s home, 625 E. 6th Street, Lawson, Mo. on Tuesday, December 9, starting at 5:00 P.M..
