April 28, 1951 - November 13, 2017
Shirley Jean (Johnson) Chamberlin April 28, 1951 – November 13, 2017 Shirley Chamberlin, the youngest of three siblings, was born on April 28, 1951. After battling cancer for a second time she passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, November 13, 2017 at the age of 66 at the Hospice House of North Kansas City Hospital. Shirley was preceded in death by her mother and father, Vivian and Arven Johnson of KCMO. She is survived by her two older sisters, Betty Wilson (married to Chuck Wilson) of Texas and Glenda Melvin (married to Mike Melvin) of Illinois, her daughter, Daphne Serene Shelton (married to Jim Shelton) of KCMO and two grandchildren, Dillon and Shiloh Shelton of KCMO. Shirley was a bit of a tomboy and loved the outdoors. She also had a hunger for knowledge, which she got from her dad. She often read and collected books when she had the time. Shirley was a private person and not often easy to get to know but once you did you realized what a kind and caring person she could be. She also had a unique way of looking at things. She would often find beauty or purpose in things that others overlooked. Shirley was a hard worker. She spent the last 18 years working for Hen House Market doing whatever was needed and doing it to the best of her ability. Regardless of what she was doing, she always made time for people when she sensed a need in them. Graveside Service will be 3pm, Friday, November 17th at White Chape Memorial Gardens with A Celebration of Life at 5pm at First Baptist Church of Northern Heights.
