Shirley Corinne Belote completed her journey in this world on September 15th 2018. She passed on peacefully in her home, in the presence of family, surrounded by love. Shirley was the third of six children. From a very young age she enjoyed caring for others, beginning with her younger sisters. She married the love of her life, Mickey, in 1956. Together they raised three children. When her children were all in school she began working outside the home. She worked as a census taker then had a few clerical positions before beginning her career with International Paper Company. Through a combination of hard work and incredible intelligence, she worked her way up from Shipping Clerk to Plate Scheduler, responsible for scheduling the presses. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family. She always kept a nice home, welcoming many to her table. She loved her church and bowling, was an avid bridge player and enjoyed fellowship with her friends. Most recently, she joined in many activities in her community at Wexford Place. She especially loved Beanbag Baseball and dinner with friends. Shirley is preceded in death by her husband Edward “Mickey” Belote, mother, Corinne Abbott, brother, Carl Abbott, and sister, Virginia Douglass song with her sister-in-law, Pat Abbott. She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Moerer (Greg), son, Edward Belote, daughter, Lisa Bowles (Brian); Her three Grandchildren Amy Wehner (Sam), Stephen Moerer, and Hannah Shields and her great-granddaughter Holly. She is also survived by three siblings, Dale Abbott, Charlotte Rogers (Jimmy) and Monica West (Walter). A memorial service will be held at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 7110 North Highway 9, Kansas City MO 64152, on Friday, September 21, 2018. Visitation will be held at 1:00pm with a Memorial service to follow at 2:00pm (with interment in the church’s memorial garden) followed by a reception at the church.
