Laura Heckman Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Laura Ruechel Heckman, 57 of Riverside, Missouri was born July 15, 1961 daughter of Rudy and Zoe Ruechel. Laura was a graduate of Ruskin High School, Class of 1979, Kansas University and the University of Costa Rica. Laura was a very determined, fearless, and adventurous soul. She obtained a Private Pilot License, and spoke Spanish fluently. Laura loved to travel to Costa Rica where she and her beloved husband, Tom, developed a beachside vacation villa together in Potrero, where many family and friends were able to enjoy. While living in Costa Rica, Laura was a teacher at the Costa Rica Academy. Laura also worked at: Marion Laboratories, Payne Weber Brokerage and Western Union. Laura is survived by her beloved husband, Tom Heckman, two step-children: Jacob Heckman and Jessica Heckman Hyde, a beloved grandson, Jackson Hyde; her mother, Zoe Ruechel, her brother, Craig Ruechel, half-sisters; Jan Davis, Jill Hamann, Wende Curtis and Cendee Nielsen; a half-brother, Hakon Broberg, and Nephews: Shane and Lance Ruechel. Those preceding her in death are Laura's father, Rudy Ruechel, her birth-father, Terry Curtis, her father-in-law, Harold Heckman, her Grandparents, along with Aunts and Uncles. Laura will be loved and remembered by all who knew her. A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.
