January 11, 1974 - February 5, 2019
Julie Leann Glaszczak Garber, 45 of Kansas City, Missouri passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on February 5, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was met at heaven’s gates by her beloved Mother, Carol Glaszczak and her Lord and Savior, who she loved very much. Julie was born January 11, 1974 to Leroy and Carol (Johnson) Glaszczak. She was raised in Kansas City, Missouri, graduating from Winnetonka High School, Class of 1992. She continued her education and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with dual majors of Accounting and International Business with a minor in German from Washington University in St. Louis. She immediately achieved Certification in Public Accounting (CPA) and worked with Price-Waterhouse from 1992 until 2002 when she joined the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). She loved her work and was saddened that her health could not allow her to continue. She worked as a Senior Manager II with the Solvency Regulation Department of NAIC up until January 2019. Julie loved to travel from an early age, enjoying her travel benefits that came with her father working for TWA. It is probably where she learned to love the warm ocean waters. She was proud to have traveled to all 50 states, the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. She loved vacationing in Hawaii, California, Florida, and the Caribbean to name a few top destinations. Julie enjoyed creating or experiencing extraordinary moments in the middle of an ordinary day and having family and friends experience them with her. One of those is the love story between she and her beloved husband, Keith. From sharing love notes with each other, to telling each other they “loved each other” many times a day, Julie found her fairy tale love and they enjoyed every moment together. She was always wanting others to feel her joy, as she wanted to make every moment special. Julie was a woman of strong faith and she wanted to share that faith with those she met. She was a member of New Life Community Church and adored her church family. Julie enjoyed sports, playing soccer throughout high school, she loved to go to Comets games and then she and Keith enjoyed season tickets at Sporting KC. Everyone in Kansas City could hear her cheer for her Sporting KC! Along with travel, Sporting KC, she enjoyed cooking, physical fitness and the challenges it brought; most important things to her were God and Family. She adored Keith and she and he could tell a story with only a glance, her parents were instrumental throughout her life, losing her mother, Carol to cancer just a little over 8 months ago was one of the most challenging moments, especially while she was battling it herself. She is preceded in death by her grandparents on both her Mom and Dad’s side, along with her beloved Mother, Carol. She is loved and remembered by the love of her life, Keith, her father, Leroy Glaszczak, brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Wendy Glaszczak, nieces; Brooke Glaszczak and Jessica Glaszczak, half-brothers Rick Glaszczak, Dan Glaszczak, and John Glaszczak, along with Keith’s parents; Donald and Kathy Garber, one sister-in-law and her husband, Kristi and Stephen Ditmer along with her nephews; Ryan, Corey and Nathan. Julie loved all animals, but her current cat Zusi and her previous ones: Ivory, Maxwell, and Kenzie were very special to her. Julie will be loved and remembered by all who knew her. Her big warm smile, laughter and genuine care for others will be forever a testament to her life. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested donations be made to KC Pet Project.
