Charles Ray Welch

Charles Ray Welch, 71 of Kansas City North passed away in the evening hours of Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. Charles was born December 3, 1942 to Carl and Dorothy Mae (Pursell) Welch in Spickard, Missouri. Charles was a 1961 graduate of Trenton High School. He learned the grocery store business, starting at age 13 working in the hometown grocery store in Trenton. Charles joined the U.S. Air Force in 1964 as an aircraft mechanic. He was honorably discharged in 1968. Charles returned to the Grocery business after his service in Vietnam. He worked for Red-X in Riverside, Missouri through the 1960s and joined Kroeger Grocery store on the square in Liberty, Missouri, then Thriftway. He retired working for Price Chopper in Liberty. Charles married the love of his life, Ernestine Antu November 3, 1965 and to this union two daughters were born, Cindy and Tracy. Charles is preceded in death by his parents, two brother-in-laws, three nieces and nephews. He is survived by his wife, Ernestine, two daughters, Cindy (Mark) Carson of Munnsville, NY and Tracy (Jim) Lineberry of Kansas City, four grandchildren; Brandee Soard, Peoria Heights, Illinois, Megan Swan, Seoul, Korea, Lauren Haynes, Kansas City, Missouri; Tye Soard, Kansas City, Missouri; four brothers; Bill (Dolores) Welch of Topeka, Kansas, Don (Sharon) Welch of Gladstone, Missouri, and Ed (Sharon) Welch of Kansas City, Missouri and Jim (Peggy) Welch, Liberty, Missouri; three sisters; Helen Ward of Kansas City, Missouri, Judy (Bob) Dreier of Clinton, Missouri, Francey (Jesse) Whitewell of Spickard, Missouri and a host of extended family, nieces, nephews and many friends who loved him dearly. Services will be 11am, Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church; 1600 State Highway A; Liberty, Missouri with Visitation: 6-8pm, Tuesday, May 27th at the Church. Full Military Honors following with burial at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Donations suggested to the Welch Family in honor of Charles Ray Welch and may be left with the Funeral Director at the service to be given to the family.
