Victor M. Royal Jr.

Victor M Royal passed away August 14, 2013, in Kansas City, MO. He was born in Kansas City, KS, on September 19, 1949. Vic graduated from Branson High School class of 1967. He earned his B.S. Commercial Art degree from University of Central Missouri where he was an active member of Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity. Vic began his career as a paste up artist at Ashcraft Printing in KC, MO becoming Art Director in 1975. Serving 15 years as Art Director for the NCAA was a highlight of his career. Vic enjoyed visiting college campuses to create tournament promotions and seeing his award winning championship logos on TV. Later he was employed by KC Star Direct and Marketing Technologies. From 2002-2008 Vic was in-house graphic designer working with the marketing team for the KC Royals. In retirement, Vic continued freelance work and completing restoration of his ’65 Chevelle. His love of sports included NASCAR and he volunteered as a pit-tour guide in the KS Speedway inaugural season. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and supporter of MLM -Metro Lutheran Ministries. Vic is preceded in death by his father Victor M. Royal, mother Thelma M. Hicks and sister Donna Morgan. He is survived by his loving wife Connie E. Royal, daughter Robin Fitzgerald (Brian), son Terry Royal (April), his beautiful grandchildren Rebecca, Bayard, Thomas, Brigid, Magdalen, Veronica, Esmae and Patrick, his brother Scott Morgan (Jody), sister Pam Long (Tony), father-in-law Mervyn Moeller (Eileen), brothers-in-law Mark Moeller (Debbie) and Jon Moeller (Cathy), sister-in-law Marcia Russo and many loving nephews, nieces , cousins and wonderful lifetime friends and colleagues. The family thanks North Care Hospice House for their outstanding care. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contribution to MLM, 3031 Holmes, KC, MO or a charity of your choice. Visitation will be August 18,2013 at 3:00 p.m., Service at 4:00 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church, 1104 N.E. Vivion Rd, KC, MO. Private internment will be at Mount Moriah South in KC, MO.
