Melba Lorraine Frank - Wofford

Melba Lorraine Frank-Wofford, 82 years of age, of Kansas City, MO died of Renal Failure on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Smithville, MO. She was born on January 4, 1932 in Eminence, MO to Ernest and Pearl Cooley. She was very involved in United Methodist Churches in Saint Louis and Kansas City as a Stephens Minister and in the Gateway and Heartland Emmaus Communities. She enjoyed gardening and collecting lighthouses as well as travelling, especially to see the ocean. She also enjoyed baking, shopping, and doting on her grandchildren; she worked at Kids’ Corner Dayschool with her daughter, Jennifer, and everyone called her “grandma.” She was preceded in death by her spouses Andrew Frank and William Wofford and her older brother Ora Cooley, his wife Mary, and her brother in law James Hill. She is survived by her children Sheila Weiss and her husband Eric of Alexandria, VA, Alan Frank and his wife Terri of Saint Charles, MO, and Jennifer Frank-Dull and her husband David Dull of Kansas City , MO. She leaves behind her grandchildren Andrea Raines and her husband Michael of Winston-Salem, NC, Holly French and her husband Joseph of Columbia, MD, Meredith Frank who is working in Memphis, TN, Andrew Frank of Saint Louis, MO, Tyler Dull and Marissa Dull, both of Kansas City, MO. She is also survived by her sister Freda Hill of Ellington, MO and her brother Daniel Cooley and his wife Norma of Saint Clair, MO. Rev. Christine Tucker-Key will conduct a Celebration of Life Service on Monday, June 30 at 7 p.m. at Platte Woods United Methodist Church, Platte Woods, MO. The funeral and burial will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Sunset Hills Chapel and Cemetery, 10180 Gravois Rd, Affton, MO 63123 with Rev. Tommie Pierson, Jr. All arrangements provided by Cashatt Family Funeral Home, Platte Woods, MO. Pallbearers are her grandchildren and their spouses: Andrea & Michael Raines, Holly & Joseph French, Meredith Frank, Andrew Frank, Tyler Dull, and Marissa Dull. A memorial fund has been established with The Family Conservancy Head Start program to provide services for homeless families living in poverty in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
