Betty Haskins

Betty Ann (Lohmann) Haskins, 72, a longtime resident of Aurora, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Saturday October 25, 2014 in Sedalia Missouri. Betty Ann was born on July 17,1942 in Aurora, Illinois to William and Leota (Golding) Lohmann. Betty graduated from West Aurora High School in 1961.,As a youngster Betty enjoyed Sunday School, playing with her brother Ralph and her sister Nancy, and all of her cousins . Throughout her childhood she cared for and loved many pets. Betty Also enjoyed being a girl scout, and later participating in the Drum and Bugle Corps during high school as a majorette. On June 5, 1965 Betty was united in Holy Matrimony to Charles Fredrich Haskins at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Aurora, Illinois. They enjoyed a honeymoon at Niagara Falls and yearly trips to the Wisconsin Dells area . Some fond memories were made at the Dells, as Betty watched their family grow , ultimately welcoming four daughters. Betty enjoyed seeing her daughters learn to enjoy the beauty of nature at Lake Delta, the entertainment offered by Tommy Bartletts Water show, the fun of riding the original land and water “Ducks” as well as the peace and quiet of simply camping and cooking over an open fire. Later Betty enjoyed camping with her family at a friend’s farm in Savannah, Illinois along the Mississippi Palisades where she enjoyed watching her children grow and enjoy horses. Betty lived in the Aurora , Illinois area most of her life, and was a parishioner at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Aurora . Throughout her adult life in addition to spending time with her children and vacations she also enjoyed holidays, family get togethers, reunions, various pets, singing in the church choir, sewing, knitting and other crafts, being an election judge at voting booths, and playing bingo. Shortly after a debilitating stroke in 2010 Betty moved to Sedalia Missouri to be nearer her daughter. While in Sedalia, Betty was a member of Sacred Heart Parish. Although the stroke left her unable to care for herself, it never took from her the enjoyment of spending time with loved ones, both people and animals. Betty will be missed by Spike, her shih tzu who resides with her daughter Dawn, Victoria, her cat who resides with her daughter Beth and her special pal Diesel, a great dane who spent a great deal of time with her in these past few years. Betty was preceded in death by both parents, William and Leota (Golding) Lohmann, her daughter, Shayne Susan Haskins, her sister Nancy Ruth (Lohmann) Dailey and her niece Shelley (Lohmann) Andersen and many aunts, uncles, cousins , friends and pets. . Betty is survived by. 3 of her daughters: Elizabeth Ann (Haskins) Myers (Martin) of Sedalia , Missouri, Mary Agnes Haskins of Princeton, Illinois, and Dawn Marie Haskins –Caillahua (Luis) of Boynton Beach, Florida . Her granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth Myers, and grandsons , Joshua Noah Myers and Joseph Edward Myers, all of Sedalia, Missouri , her grandson Alan Haskins of Princeton, Illinois and two beautiful twin grandsons that are expected in February 2015 and will reside in Boynton Beach, Florida. Betty is also survived by her brother Ralph August Lohmann and his wife Mary Jo and many nieces and nephews, Victoria Lohmann, Ralph Lohmann Jr. Kristine(Myrick) Bryant, Patricia (Dailey) Schaumburg and Thomas Dailey as well as the children and grandchildren of her nieces and nephews. Betty is now at peace and will be reunited with all of the family, friends and pets who have passed who had made her life special in the 72 years she was here on earth.
